I felled and bucked a 50 ft 36" standing dead alder and dropped, bucked a 60 ft 18" sycamore limb. Stayed out of the dirt. Maybe 2 tanks of cutting with an 026 and an 044. First time touching it up it may have taken a little longer than it will going forward. The Pferd double bevel files I have didn't match up well to the RSK tooth profile, so I probably spent more time reshaping than sharpening. Maybe there's a thicker file that fits the Stihl RSK better than Pferd. @foresterntree has pulled a tape on different brands of files, I believe . If I waited till the chains were actually dull before sharpening the file thickness probably would have been fine. Top plate on the factory grind sharp chain hung past the file corner.

I can take some more measurements if it's useful for any of the double bevel or triangle files I've got (Pferd chisel & triangle, Vallorbe chisel, double bevel and triangle).

I would definitely stick with a brand that was thicker than Pferd, if such a thing exist.

Vallorbe works, you square filing RSK from original round configuration
This is my first RSK and it's square ground originally.
Thicker on the file surface that contacts the side plate?
Maybe. I was having to hold the file flatter to get the bevel that contacts the top plate to reach the leading edge of the top plate. Doing what I'd been doing the bevel wasn't wide enough to reach the front edge and corner. I'm thinking if the file was a fuzz thicker or the bevels were longer I could file the top steeper for durability. Could be that I had developed bad technique over time. Been awhile since I've filed a new chain.

I never seen RSK as factory square ground, only round.

I'm reading it used to be Stihl's square ground before RSL and early RSL was called RSLK. Something unique to RSK with the chassis and raker shape as well as the cutter. It went from square ground to round then was discontinued. With full size .050 3/8 chain RSL took over it's square ground version and 33RS became the only round ground.

Anyone have a 33RS or RSL to do a side by side with an RSK to see what the chassis and raker difference is?
