On my for 460 461 24 inch run 404 we need sharp chains here in Australia with our wood 3/8 just gos Blunt to quick I've noticed that the power band on the 462 is a bit narrow for 404 very disappointing 660 661 not a problem .
I use the 462 with 24“ 404 and it runs fine. In oak or beech. Normally I would say u should at least have 70cc to run 404. but u definitely feel the difference between 3/8 and 404

So I should be fine if I get a 660 clone and run a 32"ish bar in mostly Doug fir, then. Not that I cut enough big wood to really tax anything....

The 462 is definitely a shorter bar saw bore cutting/felling hardwoods. Lots of hi rpm power, but it falls off fast if you dog it in too much. I wouldn’t bother with the 462 anyway after running the 500i. Lol

So it’s not the most overrated saw of 2020 then?

Hey can’t change what the community voted right? Anything can be overrated, just takes a few people to hype about it on a forum like it’s made out of gold.... Lol

The 500i was made out on here to be a 80cc saw with the power of a 90cc . It's not that at all so my expectations got squashed pretty quickly when I ran one for a bit .
Yup, it’s not a 90cc saw nor is it intended to replace one. It’s just a real healthy 70-80cc class saw. Kind of like a higher performance dolmar 7900 with fuel injection. With a muffler mod the 500i gives a lot of modded 70cc saws a run for there money.

I guess more people should listen to the quote in your signature? Always good to be open minded, unbiased and honest. I guess the closed minded fragile ego individuals can refer to the sensitive members thread if they are offended?

Certainly, professional keyboard chainsawyers should refrain from over analysis via video, written specs, etc. Its always good to stick to giving an honest hands-on opinion on a saw and not sweat the small stuff. Hard to not like a great saw that you've actually run no matter the maker, and the flip side is also true of the bad saws as well.

I’ve only ever picked on up in a store and made ‘vroom vroom’ sounds, but just because knuckleheads on the interwebs say the 500i is overrated, doesn’t mean it ain’t a fine saw...

I never said I didn't like the saw as I do . Throttle response is awesome , light for the power , just not as powerful in big wood as I had been lead to believe.

A healthy 7900/7910 is half the price though lol. But I get it, new technology. Gotta keep up with the times.
