Between these two saws which would you rather put your money in? I was all but decided on a 661 but I am starting to like the m tronic stuff less, I just feel more confident in a saw without all the electronics. And I think I can get a 288 ported for not much more than a stock 661. Hands down 288 sounds better. Parts will be easier to get for the 661 and I think it would be the faster of the two saws. I like the side tensioner on the 661 better. What do you guys think? Whats your pick?

Also anyone with a nice 288xp for sale hit me up who knows may just need to get both.....

What do you want to do with it? The fuel economy, ease of starting, availability of spares, etc pretty much hurts the 2 series saws in a commercial environment when compared to more modern saws like the 661. As a saw to buck big firewood a few days a year either would do the job well.

Weedkilla hit it right on the head. What do you want the saw to do for you? I have almost no experience with stihls of that size so im no help there, but 288's are pretty legendary for durability and reliability. I agree that for an every day production operation the 288 is not the best choice at this point unless you have some spare parts. But for just about every other application i think the 288 will be more rad.

You would have to contact robinwood on AS. He has a thread
in the trading post over there. Selling a few different saws that
are not available here in the US.
He is a stand up guy. I have bought three saws from him with
no issues at all.
