If you could type that out my eyes would be happier, but I might be seeing a guy this weekend that will probably have at least some of that stuff. I know I have the 372 chain catcher, the coils, a rim, maybe a throttle grommet, and if you could tell me what hardware I might have some of that. I think I can hook you up with a top cover, but I'll have to check. What's wrong with your cases?

That top would be pearls in a pig’s snout!:D I might have a way to make the rest look half decent.

@Mattyo was kind enough to write that exhaustive list up based on my vid with his more 288 experienced eye. @Woodslasher cases need threads fixed.

For right now I just wanna get it to run...full build after the 61/266/272 builds

So that mainly means ignition parts.
Different throttle lever that will jibe to this carb.
I’ll order a carb kit.
I guess I need to sit down and swap the cyls and put as much of it together as I can to see what bolts I’m missing. I have a decent selection of metric bolts at work, we’ll see how far I can get.
Exhaust shield.
I probably have a switch around I can use.
I think I have some 266 and maybe 395 tensioners but I don’t know if they will fit.
Nuts for the air filter?
Flywheel shroud.

By golly, there is a heat shield on those saws! I'd have sworn there weren't any on the 181/281's I tore down, but the ipl said otherwise. What throttle lever do you need? I'm only aware of one, the all plastic "pusher" style, and to the best of my knowledge the only change in those was black plastic on early ones being changed to grey plastic for later ones.
Here's the fitment for a later trigger p/n, according to Jack's:

I just watched your vid, it looks like you have a 272 throttle/trigger on your tank.

I'll check in with my parts guy and see what he's got, what he wants to get for it, and I'll get back to you in a pm. It might be a few days before I get a response and it might be a bit before I can pick up parts (if he has anything you need that he wants to get rid of), so if anyone else offers anything that isn't pictured/mentioned, by all means take them up on it.

Interesting, I don't think my 181 is set up that way, but I could be wrong. If you could tell me the butterfly diameter, I have a junker HS(?) carb that uses a wire throttle linkage laying around, so if the butterfly diameters are the same I'd toss the shaft in the box for you, so you could keep your trigger for now. I imagine a 272 wire linkage would work fine. For that matter, I'd check out Chainsawr, they have tons of good used parts, good prices, and reasonable shipping. I've yet to have a bad experience with them.

thats a 181 trigger on the tank and a 288 carb.
easiest thing to do is put a 288 trigger in the tank and you won't have to worry about linkage issues.
if you can get that carb to take a kit then thats awesome. its fairly rare I get kits to run well so i usually end up buying new carbs. huge piece of mind because on these saws its easiest to attach the carb assembly to the head before installing the head. if something isn't right with the carb its a pain to remove it later and swap em out. ie, get a fresh carb ....it helps ;)

btw, you CAN use that roller catch in the same spot as the aluminum 372 chain catch goes. just have to mod it to fit... takes a bit of work but its worth it.

Or you could mount it to the inner dog.
