bought another 272 last year. Replaced the line twice with raisman fuel line stick. I’ve read somewhere you can use a grommet and regular line. I have echo line in 5 and 6 mm. I’m looking to find out the grommet I’d need so I can use the line I have on hand. The raisman has been a failure for me. The first developed a hole. Hl supply hooked me up with two replacements free of charge. Just pulled the old girl out and the fuel filter has fell off. Just looking to go with good line and be done. Maybe the raisman would be fine but I have ethanol fuel. Not making a change there. Help wanted. Thanks fellas

I can't remember exactly what I did last time and I'm not to that point on my 272 build just yet. But I believe I either stepped up to 1/4 od line or used a grommet from a Stihl ht75 pole saw on the last 268-272.

If I remember right Oregon makes a molded line for the 272 as well. Might be worth a try.
I’ll check the grommet out. It’s not that it’s awful to change the line but if I can use something proven that’s the way I want to go. I actually use that saw. It’s my go to. I have two of them but I like having a spare falling saw

There's more than one grommet, but you can mix and match them in most cases. The actual 272 grommet is 503697601. The 51/55 and 455/460 grommet is 503735801. I think the newer one from the 240's even works. The long line/grommet combo is better in these saws cause it drops the fuel filter lower into the tank. With the molded line the filter just hangs in the air, barely reaching the bottom of the tank. The later/current 272 tanks have the smaller hole from the factory.

i installed the Oregon formed line in the 66 i just did and seems like a good product. Time will tell. But like Spike said it does seem shorter than it should be in the tank.

Yes the molded one is a pita to get a fuel filter on.. if it was longer I’d try to get a spring clamp to hold the filter to the line. Nothing worse than common fuel line
