Good morning fellas. Since it seemed like folks appreciated me posting a build thread recently, I figured I would do it again while I work my way through this Husky 2100CD. I have never run one of these before, or worked on one. Here is the saw as I removed it from the box. Yes, the handle, clutch cover, and air filter came with it.IMG_8239.jpegIMG_8240.jpegIMG_8241.jpegIMG_8242.jpeg

This will be exciting to see. So far there have been lots of great resources for working on these 2100s. Here is what mine looked like last summer when I found it at the dump - even with free dirt packed into the cylinder!

Luckily the cylinder is in good shape, I have replaced the gas tank assembly to get a working rear handle. I have sourced all of the necessary carb mounting hardware, full wrap and have a clutch cover now. I went ahead and split the case and replaced the bearings. No chain brake and I replaced the wimpy pull handle with a D-handle like the one you have. I wish I had the muffler style you have, mine is the top-side exhaust. I may have to modify mine to also have a front exhaust.

Good luck with your build!!

If you magnify and look at the piston pic that @hacskaroly posted Greg. His ring orientation is the same as yours and looks to have run awhile. Not saying it's right or wrong. Just saying 😜
I’m hoping one of the experts …ahem… @srcarr52 will chime in on this one.

I'd run the ring pins on the intake side, just make sure they are not going to drop into the upper transfers.

I usually use a 395 piston in the 2100, they are a tad shorter on the skirt so you can't take much out of the squish without the intake getting too long. But the pin location and the windows are well worth it.

If you're looking for a stock replacement Dukes from sawsalvage is a good option.

Actually after taking a better look at that piston the pins are meant to be on the exhaust side, see that they are far away from the piston skirt edge.

I had seen that you had done that and was about to grab a Duke's 395 piston and mock it up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Definitely going to see what a 395 piston looks like. I wasn't gonna be able to widen the exhaust at all with the Golf 2100 piston, and flipping it around was gonna make it dangerously close to the transfers.

Mine came from some island off the coast of Washington state.I'm not certain if it's been enhanced or not At any rate it's a bear to start with 180 PSI static .Needs a decomp or a kick starter .I'm doing battle with the carb at the moment and so far I'm loosing .So it's shelved for a while until i regain some composure .
