Does anybody know how to identify a stihl crankshaft using the numbers stamped into them? I know fact that the early 044 had a 10mm Piston pin and wouldn’t work on the later ones which is 12mm. Is the 440 different from the 12mm 044 one? Cause they had the seal bushing under the clutch so is the same just a different size or the crank itself? To my knowledge and I could be wrong aren’t all 046 and ms 460 cranks the same? I know the balancing weight are much larger on those I just don’t want to give anyone inAccurate information. I see numbers stamped into all these cranks I have and was going to see if I could identify them so I can get rid of some of my mounds of saw parts lol. A lot of you may dissagree but you only have use for so many chainsaws and I’ve already got rid of 2x 440 3 x 260 3x hus 372xp 1 x 385 xp a his 272 and a bunch of randoms and that’s the tip of the iceberg.
