Just to update, I followed @Glock37 advice and connected to just 1 wire off the generator. I used the yellow, as it was longer.
It's just a cobbled mess right now, but I wanted to be sure it worked before crimping terminals and routing wires.

The wire guage I used on the rear element is too large to route nicely, so that will be getting cut off and new leads connected to it. I had a more appropriate guage wire at work.
But, they work.
