When I put together an 046 over the summer, it came with everything but the wiring harness for heated handles.

I'm in the process of rewiring this thing, but the ipl is pretty useless and the manual does not have an actual schematic.

The elements and the stator had the wires/terminals cut off. I have access to many different types and styles, so thats a non issue.
Problem is, I am unsure as to which way these are wired.
Are the elements series or parallel?

Can someone who knows these complete my crude diagram for me?

Not currently planning to heat the carb, as I dont have the element for it, just the handles.

2 wires its a dual series system like the 461 Arctic

check and see if yellow and orange wires have the same resistance to ground

they should not have any between the 2

Just try one wire out of generator

Tape other wire and wire it like a single gen

Thanks, I will give that a try tomorrow evening if time allows and report back.

It's possible the generator came from a 461.
This saw was put together from a big box of parts from Dall.

The 2 wires were what had me wondering wtf, although it does show a single and 2 wire gen in the ipl I have.

Do you have the flywheel from a 461 to go with it

Are they different between 046 and 461?
I have one with the magnetic ring in it that came in the box. I did not look at any numbers on it.

This is 064 wiring. Should be the same.

From the generator

through the carb housing and into the rear element

loops through the rear element and then ties into the handle bar element

Wire running to handle bar from rear element

wire to handle and then it returns to the switch as seen in the photo above.

I Think That’s how I wired my 044 up. I'd need to look at it to be sure.

However in that ipl, it shows the other wire from the gen is for the heated carb with a thermostat in line..

Just to update, I followed @Glock37 advice and connected to just 1 wire off the generator. I used the yellow, as it was longer.
It's just a cobbled mess right now, but I wanted to be sure it worked before crimping terminals and routing wires.

The wire guage I used on the rear element is too large to route nicely, so that will be getting cut off and new leads connected to it. I had a more appropriate guage wire at work.
But, they work.

Thanks guys!

Ran it last week so I could make more snowmen. Need to find some time to actually go cut wood for a day

Got 30 cords of logs at a buddy's place not far from here. Gonna get to work on them soon. You need a place to break that 500i in, you let me know... :)
