We built this house in "83" and have never used the heating unit. That stove is the third stove and I heat 2400 sq. ft.
I used a woodboiler for heater coil, baseboard and hot water in a rental house for college students I resided at and a woodboiler is a lot more convenient and comfortable to run and kept the firewood mess outside so I may be switching to that type system or similar variant. Woodstoves have a heating cycle that is hard to consistently control when compared to a woodboiler with a big storage tank. My woodboiler was all electronically controlled inside the house and I could just load up the big firebox with big chunks of wood when I felt like it and be set for a long time without worrying about roasting inside the house or waiting for a fire to warm up. Love using metalbestos triple wall SS all fuel chimney....cost $$$ but well worth it. I will be changing to woodboiler here more than likely. I am a DIY (do it yourselfer) so that minimizes my costs. A lot of guys on this forum are talented do it yourselfers...hope for the USA!
