What a terribly designed saw

Not one of the easiest to work but not like a mini Mac. Check the plug wire also. I have had two that were pinched and grounding out making the saw cut out at higher rpms.

This is on its own special bench...we are having a staring war....I stare at it every frikn day as I walk in to my basement. So far it's winning, the only way I get rid of it is to repair it, it's a battle. View attachment 13747

I wanna know how he pulled the fuel tank.
This is where I'm at....

How many screws need to be removed on the recoil side?

While you have the carb off do a vacuum test on the fuel tank those caps are the vent.

i think there is 3 one on top and 2 on bottom on recoil side

Gonna call it quits for the night, but tomorrow I'll bring the MityVac into my basement shop from the garage.
I knew the cap was the vent, just never heard of them being faulty.
But like I said before, I've always avoided these saws like the plague.

Is this brazing factory or a repair?

Do you mean the recoil itself? Or the entire recoil/tank assy?

That brazing is factory I've had several 031's and all looked the same on the muffler

They are not as bad as a homelite 330 but it's right up there in pains to work on but they are tough saws never had to switch the ignition though
