Been chatting back in forth with an old boy up in TN about his less than stellar looking 028 Super.
Needs a cover for the carb & a new pull rope...other than that he says it runs stronger than a "raped ape!":eek:

Wants a $100 and wont budge, I'm not to well versed on this saws...I'd probably just slap the extra parts and sell it or maybe use it as a back-up.
Is it worth $100 or what & whats been you guys experience with this saw?
Here is a pic of said saw...

Yes vote from me, i prefer these to an 026 any day. They don't puddle fuel in the intake same as an 026 and they're one hard sum'bich to kill! Recently did a full rebuild on one, crank bearings cylinder decking the works for a guy, cost him more than a new saw but thats the kind of reliability some people - including myself - have come to love with regard to this line of saws. Same can be said for the big brother 038 super/mag. Not so much for the 048 mind you!

Yes definitely I've brought several back that were barn finds or yardsale saws been sitting lord knows how long one was sitting over 20 years after my neighbor bought a 026 nothing more than a pressure washing carb kit fuel line and the occasional seals.20170108_144548.jpg

Bringing around 200 gbp over here for clean ones, but you can get a filthy non runner for about 40 quid. Almost every time all they need is a carb kit and a good clean

When the 028 Super runs well, it runs like gangbusters and will beat the pants off an MS 290. Mine does this regularly against my own 290. An 028 Super that runs well is available occasionally for under $250.

I sold a really nice 028S with a like new bar/chain on it two weeks ago for $260.00 as a point of reference. They're at about the same price point as an 026.
The earlier 028 versions (not super) sell for considerably less.
