They must have taken chain from the wrong roll. LOL Can happen to anyone. Just a mistake that was found. Hopefully they make it right for him.

I will try one off a 290 next week. I will be out of town this weekend. That is the only saw I have access to with a .325/0.063 bar. Everything else I have is 3/8/0.050. I thought about that but everything seems to fit right. The only thing is it cut fine the last time I used it. I checked all the cutters and they are not rocked/dull/bent/etc. The new chains are Stihl brand and definitely .325.

290 bar doesn't fit the 026, been there.

The 029 shares the 3003 mount with everything from the 024 through the 066 (MS660)
The drive and nose sprockets may not match but any 3003 mount bar will fit a very large range of saw models.

Yup. I was set up for .325 on both 026 and 029. Bars and chains are interchangeable.

the 290 and 310 are the same saw other than bore and the 290 is recommended for the 325 chain and the 310 you can do both the 325 and 3/8 chain

We have a 290 and 310 at work (don't know what they were thinking) and contemplated changing the 310 to .325 for ease of maintenance.
