Had a 023 given to me with the carb disassembled, I grabbed a kit from stihl and am now trying to workout what order the gaskets and diaphragms go. I got it together how I think it goes and it runs but spits a *s-word load of fuel back out the carb.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

I'm running a clone carb on my 021 with no issues. The OEM carbs are $30 or less.
I was short on cash so I went with the clone.

just curious...
did you have a peek at the cyl through the muff yet ?
Sometimes its a bad ring that causes spitback...

Everything looks great through the exhaust port. I'll get some pics up tonight.

Pull the carb and take a gander down the intake port. See what your intake piston skirt looks like.

Bad ignition timing could do it also.

what sort of base settings are you at for HI-Low. try leaning the low in some...maybe just too rich.
Are you getting black sooty looking schputz coming from the muffler ?

I'm betting the gaskets and diaphragms are out of order.

Metering Side:
Gasket against carb body then diaphragm

Pump side:
Diaphragm against carb body then gasket

OR

You should happen to get a POS carb

Ah I didn't think of that. I'll check the key when I get a chance.

Here are some picks of what I thought went in the carb and what came in the kit.

Also my favourite saws, my 026 and 036 I built, both rebuilt, thin or no base gaskets, opened up mufflers and they run great!
Also my other 026 with stihl/atom auger.

I think you need the blue pump diaphragm instead of the clear-ish one. See if blue flaps cover fuel holes in carb body.
Also, remove needle and clean it, make sure hole under needle is open.
