I'd be a liar if I didnt say this 441c m-tronic didnt impress me today.
15" to 15.5" dry ash cuts and then 20" buried in dry ash by both saws. Both 70.7cc for testing. The 441 to make sure ready to go back to owner. Was taking 20 pulls to start when came in.
The reg carb 441 when first came out didnt impress me back years ago. But that was also when I ran all ported saws.
I ran my 445 which I could tell wasnt right when started and giving throttle. Time for carb kit. But no excuse it still didnt feel as good in the cuts IMHO. This is the same 445 that out cut a opened dp muffler 440 and 372 OE back in the day when all ran same chains. Is what it is. I was impressed with the stock 441C today.
Think he is really going to like the new bar set up.

Worked on putting an Elastostart handle on a non elastostart rope on a AM 660 recoil. Almost seemed like an impossible task, ALMOST! (I had a new handle with a broken rope I did not want to waste).

I screwed up by not threading the cord through the cover hole before attaching the handle, so I took it off of spool and when it did not want to re thread in the spool I removed the spool … MISTAKE … the spring popped, and it was fun putting the spring back in!

Anyway, since the AM rope does not have the rubber stops that the Elastostart rope has, I tied a knot in the end in place of the cone, and used tight wrapped electrical tape to mimic the other rubber collar. Seems to have worked. We will see if it holds up when I start using it. My spacing was not perfect, but it does get some of the Elastostart action. Waste not want not!

This was the 445 I was wanting to test yesterday but didnt finish it till today. No carb issues with this one. ;)

#4 of my 445's but only 2 runners.

Just finished and test cutting with 20" buried in big dry ash log and now 16" and bigger on the other dry ash log. All day with that 441c or better. Would need a stop watch to tell. But dont care about that anymore and neither does the wood.

For the folks that was following the worm gear deal, plastic newer and metal older.

That 445 I was testing today is the one that had the older 415 475 metal worm gear in it. Oiling great in the cuts.

1 more project trying to decide which way I am going with it. I sold the old early tank off it to help a shop with a 475 needing tank. So have the later updated tank ready. Just trying to decide between 415 or 445 cylinder.
Sold all my 475 topends and still have a 505 going. So they werent needed.

Still waiting on 1 more part for that dang 026. So working on some of mine.
