Here is a Dolmar cylinder of what I believe is a cutoff saw. I'm sharing as these transfers make me wonder what the engineers were thinking?

I've worked on a few stihl cutoff saws, That actually looks better then the cylinders I did.

Cut off saws are made to spin low rpm ,6500 i think ,I think thats why they choke them town ,the xpw husky jugs are choked down also ,from 375k saw

Looks like a 7900 cylinder with a little curve thrown in there

It's a 50mm bore. I think the cut off saws engine turn close to the same rpm, it's the pulleys that limit the cutoff wheel to xxxx number of rpm.


A lot is going on in the ducts with angles, shapes and flow characteristics.

I always wondered why are the upper ports are almost a 90* corner. Wouldn't it be better to have a nice rounded entry coming out? Instead of slamming into a wall and coming out into the chamber.
I would think that would cause a bunch of turbulence in the tunnel before it escapes.

Along the same line as Randy.

Don't know what the sides of the jug are like, but looks as if they are attempting to angle and add some "swoop" to fairly stright transfer tunnels.
