Have a 25 and a 110 in pieces right now, so fun times ahead!

So heres my Poulan. One of them. Grey and black 3400. Going to a new home soon with a guy I work with. Noticing it smokes a wee bit more than it should, and I'm seeing a little oil stain on the muffler. Assuming it has an impulse oiler, since it oils while it idles.
Is there a check valve or any likely culprit I should look for? Dont want to send it down the road not right.View attachment 172117 View attachment 172118

Might be a simple carb adjust

Button is on the top front of the top handle. Push rod runs down behind the flywheel.

Button that's supposed to be with the diaphragm.

Have no idea where the button or diaphragm are. Only thing inside the pump diaphragm housing was the spring and a bunch of crud. No idea who or more importantly why took it out. Just know it dont work well without it.
What part of GA? I'm in Northeast part.

Bostwick-Morgan Co, between Monroe-Walton Co, and Madison-Morgan Co, and 15 minutes from Athens.

Yep. Grew up in Madison co near Ila. Elbert co last 25 years. Come thru Monroe a lot. Brother is buried at Hill haven on 138. Have to visit ever now and then. Also go to Conyers for work some. Got to keep thread on track, so head down 72 to Comer if you want used Poulan parts.

Just looked at my diagram, forgot the button plunger was part of the diaphragm. Must have busted so they pulled it out, I imagine they plugged off the impulse hole also.

I may do that if I need anything. I used to work in Monroe til Horton Cadillac closed, then moved on down to Jimmy Britt Chevrolet. Horton was closer to home thats for sure, less than 30 minute ride instead of an 50 to 60 minutes now.

That would be awesome if you have one.
No, the impulse hole was wide open. Looked like they tried to run it a good bit, judging from the crud all over everything in there.

The S25 is running.
Took a while to have it suction fuel from tank into carb but finally it runs.

Since the chain brake seems to be a rare part, I'd like to show you a design-flaw
it comes with:

bremsdeckelbruch_1.jpg bremsdeckelbruch_2.jpg bremsdeckelbruch_3.jpg

The chain brake housing is too week so when the lever powered by the brake's spring knocks on it once you engage the break and it will crack the housing sooner or later.

That is a sweet saw JD.
Cant really tell from the pics, was it originally the tan color?
Got a little tear down done on my parts donor S25DA. Was expecting to get a good oil pump diaphragm. No dice. This one was badly deteriorated. Pump rod and button completely separated from rubber diaphragm. At least it was there. Dad says he has a poulan there that he couldnt get to run. I may pick it up when I go visit this weekend and see if its any good. Parts saw was seized. Got it loose, but the plating is gone. Will save the piston, rod, etc. Rest of the saw isnt too bad. 0327192013.jpg 0327192013a.jpg
