An old trick on those governed carbs is either drop a BB in the hole or punch out a piece of gasket material to block the orface .I've never seen one on a McCulloch but have several on 3 or 4 Partners and a Husky 2100 CD . I forget which ones I've modified the "rattle ball " gov

Any idea on what model of SDC those are mark? I’m wondering if I have a larger then it should be carb on it. It was sharp full chisel rakers at .025 on almost new 70dl loop. Pulling in 18” dead apple so I can’t see it being a lack of load.
I cut about 40-50 cord a year I don’t have time for dull chains
I made the remark about the echo as a joke. I care more about the Mac not running right.

The only ones with the fixed jet that I have recorded are SDC43, 49, 50, and 51. Those are all the larger venturi/throttle bore.

There are several examples of the larger carburetors being standard on the 54 and 57 cc saws, e.g. SDC18 on the CP55, SDC22 on the Super 2-10, SDC37 on 10-10 and 10-10A models, SDC49 on the PM55, and SDC65 on the PM10-10 and Pro 10-10A models.

Where would I find the markings? I can plainly see SDC 11-73 then it says 49 further down or am I looking in the wrong spot completely?

Perhaps I’ll take the carb apart to see if I missed the boat on something. Thank you for the help Mark
Also the tag in the air box is missing is there any other identifiers to see if this is actually a pro Mac 10-10? Like I said it was a bits of saw I bought in a lot from a local collector.

Got home this afternoon and played with another 1010A I picked up a year or so ago. Really weak spark. Points were dirty and way too close. Fuel line was broken at the carb nipple. Filed and reset the points. Gave it a good blow down and hosed off with some brake parts cleaner. Robbed the fuel line from my 7-10A thats still in a box waiting to be reassembled.
Coated the tank gasket with some Motoseal, so I'll wait until tomorrow to fuel it.tank looks pretty good inside.
Put a decent bar and chain I had lying around on it. Still had an old hard nose Mac 10 bar on it.
It popped and ran a second on a shot of mix down the carb throat, so maybe it'll be a runner.

There are plenty of AM fuel tank gasket options out there for the 10 Series saws. I really like the Viton ones, 100% solution to a leaking tank and no need to use any type of sealant. If you have to take one apart that's had fuel in it you may have to wait a day to reassemble as the Viton will swell when exposed to fuel, probably why it makes such a good seal.

PM700 got to play for a bit today.
Took off some stumps and dropped a dead Red Oak stem that the power company topped for me.
I somehow got my angles wrong on one side of the teeth, so its sawing a curve.
Gotta fix that...

I keep asking when youre going to give me my ratchet back, as I somehow lost the original one. 😁
Just found a nice little Proto 4752A ratchet in some tools a neighbor gave dad, so that'll do better than the Asian one I was using.

Has anyone had issues with fixed hi jet sdc’s over fueling in the cut? Have a pro Mac 10-10 that’s a bit of a parts saw I got running over winter. There was a little rubber? Plastic? Tube that was collapsed in on itself right at the fuel inlet so I pulled that out, cleaned it checked diaphragm and needle, set metering lever. Idled and ran out of the cut nicely.
Cleaning up a fence line with a buddy and this poor Mac got walked by a 50cc echo so I obviously can’t let this stand
The 8 pin rim is a good option.

Do you find the 8 pin hurts noodling at all? That’s my favourite part about these macs they love to half and quarter the big elm that I don’t want to play with. Being able to pump extra squirts of oil is another bonus

Not so much on the 60cc + saws , but idk how it would noodle on a 54cc . The Pro mac 10-10S probably no problem .
There are no Mountains without valleys, its always a trade off. Do you want speed or torque from the gearing?
