Now you guys know why I was buying all this stuff 20 years ago...
Smart move!! How many do you have left? I have gotten a few good deals over the years.. my first 125 was a freebie when I bought two 090g’s, it was a mess but it’s what gave me the mcculloch bug! It was a chrome bore that I was to get running until the chrome bore let go, I ended up putting a kart motor in it and making the most of it, it did have a 42” roller bar

I have a mac3516 I let my kid use left my house oiling came back bone dry, dirty (from dirt) and not oiling, kids,; engine runs fine parts like fuel line, oil pump, primer bulb hard to find ? Saw cut many face cords over the years so not like it would be a loss if unrepairable.

It is hard to find parts for the oilers, they have plastic gears that don't hold up well if the oil is too thick or too cold. I did find one that had the oil line between the tank and the pump that broke, never hurts to look.

Thanks, Mark. I haven't pulled it apart yet just it was a $99 saw new, has cut many fcords, the engine 35cc not a monster but it would cut all day so hate to just let it sit; guess I could turn it into a 35cc winch or put a perizzi blade on it?

They pop up around me on CL all the time for $30~$40. I thought the coils were the Achilles heel on those?

Looking to find out if the clutch nut on a CP125 is RH or LH threads. No threads are showing

CP125 should be RH threads. LH threads started in the later SP125's and 101 motors.
If you look closely at the nut the LH ones have an arrow.

Thanks Lee. I didn't want to break the end of the crank off

The clutch is off now.

Any thoughts on leaving the key out of the clutch to prevent breaking the key way out?

My SP 80 has a chunked out clutch key way and holds the clutch just fine without it.

It also looks like the crank seal lip was jammed inside out (for lack of a better term) when the seal was installed. Maybe no ramp made to cover the shoulder on the crankshaft?

You can leave the key out. Later 125's had no key for that reason. I wrap electrical tape
on the crank to give the seal a ramp of sort to install the pto side seals. First wrap of
tape on large end then taper to small end with a few wraps.

On those seals I use the thin plastic tubes that precision taps and carbide drills are packed in to expand the seal over the step in the crank shaft .I might note at work the seals are installed with a robot, which of course nobody has in their garage .It uses a metal expander they call a bullet .

I don't like to take a chance without the key on the big saws, just make sure you always torque the nut to specifications so it doesn't come loose (300-360 In/Lbs). Sorry but I don't speak Canadian so I can't give it to you in Newton-Meters.

On the 10 Series you have to be particularly careful not to overtighten the RH start (keyed clutch) models or you will break the spider. If you happen to forget the later saws have a LH thread on the clutch nut, you can break those spiders as well...

I have several bigger saws with damaged crankshafts due to the nut coming loose on a keyed clutch, More than one came to me with a JB Weld " repair". This was/is an 890.

A strip of microfiche works great for seals. Very smooth transition over any crank ledges with a little 3-and-1 oil applied. Sturdy enough to be used indefinitely..., or until you forgot where ya put it.

I'm pretty much an electrical tape guy. Works well.

Micro fiche plastic is pretty rare at my house but sounds like a good way to go.

I use a piece of 1/2" copper plumbing pipe as well if it fits up OK.

Since I now have a small lathe, I made an tool to slip over the crankshaft of the 10 Series saws to facilitate installation of the PTO side seals.

I've asked the saw man at work to start saving drops of stock from 1/2" up through 1", I plan to make a few more for other common seal and shaft sizes.

I sure wish I had space for a lathe and even more, a parts washer. I guess my lathe is a drill press and a file. Parts washer, popsicle sticks, rags and "Q" tips.

Equipment sure can take up some room Tim. I sure wish I had
a little more for a lathe and maybe a Bridgeport. I guess I should
be very happy with what I have.
