That's interesting, I've used it without fail repairing on fence insulators & step in posts.
The electrical potential is much higher with the generator. It overcomes the resistance that exists in the epoxy putty. This is JB stick epoxy. It has powdered metal in it.
Top pic is the JB repair.
Next is the failure of the JB.
Last pic is the final non-JB epoxy repair.
Luckily enough of the slip ring remained to mate up to the brushes.

To my knowledge the repair held years later. The original failure I’m told was using the 110 and 220 receptacles at the same time for two different homes.
