Nice looking setter. We had one when I was a kid. Do you get him out on grouse much?

I lived near you many years back and had friends who claimed to have seen up to 40 grouse in a day in those mountains. I can't imagine a better dog for that than a close-working setter...

Huh. I had a SS, she was brown/white. Never saw one in black (or ticked like that) but yeah, the ears look more like a spaniel...

That’s Buddy! He’s a tricolor English Springer Spaniel. Not rare, but not common either. He is deluxe on a grouse hunt. Not the kind to place a retrieved bird into your hand though. I suppose I have a lot of faults too...

Yeah, our setter was the same way. She'd bring the bird to within 6' or so of you, and drop it, and that was it. Not good when it's a wounded pheasant and the dropped bird runs and you can't shoot it because the dog is 2' behind it!

My Alaskan, no longer with us.



Took me 5 years after I lost her to get another dog.

She was a rescue. Some type of Lab mix. Shes a dingbat, but a good dog.

She is super attached to my wife.
Takes her shoes and puts them in a pile and sleeps on it.

They wait by the wood stove when I get home from work until I get it back up and burning. Then they get as warm as possible and sleep!
