QS stands for the rear handle activated chain brake. Activated by removing the hand from the trigger handle. Probs can remove it.Anyone know anything about a Stihl 036 QS? I guess it stands for quick stop. Are they any good? Can they ne converted easily to a regular type saw?
What are you trying to say? Stihls aren't fast?Could be, if all other brands aren't allowed.
I saw one on CL that was in puff condition, except it was this QS version. Just checking into it. If they are an issue, I will stay clear of it.The pto case half is different and I'm pretty sure the crank is different too iirc.
Are you looking to get one?
There is a way to do it but it would involve another crank case and a few other odds n ends and likely involve a full rebuild. Honestly Jeff, run away far away. I'm sure it could be parted out to get your money back but at that point is it worth it?Yup. I waa hoping there was a way to just dismantle the QS stuff, and use the saw as regular, but I guess not. Piston ans cylinder may be good. I could sell the parts for the QS. If they are worth anything.
