Did you use an oem top end on this one. Just curious cuz I’m looking at one with a Tecomec top end
Yes it's OEM. With the price being so cheap it was the only option! Was surprised that the kit cane with a wrist pin bearing and decomp plug along with the piston, ring and cylinder.

Was that from your local dealer?

It's cold and windy here today so I spent some time by the fire with Groundi this morning but then went to the shop and cleaned up a very dirty saw I had disassembled a couple days ago. Started going back together with a Stihl 021. Sorted and labelled a bunch of 1123 series parts. Not sure how many saws I can build up but probably have stuff for at least three of these. Most are the smallest size 021 but I have at least one MS250 and maybe other stuff too. Not sure. Apparently the crank on the 021 is different than the 025 so I can't easily "upsize" the saw like I initially thought I would be able to. (like making the 029 into an 039) Parts are readily available so I'll build one and then go from there.

We started the day below 0, then it increased to +12, a heat wave!

I focused on indoor projects, like trying to iron out my Tax Letter for this year. So much to report, and still some unanswered questions. It will be a real mixed bag for New Yorkers.

Many of my clients who live in Westchester pay way over $10,000 just in RE taxes, so no credit for State Income Tax paid, plus you loose your Exemptions ($4,050 each). This is going to hurt some folks.

The rate reductions are nice (15 to 12, 25 to 22 etc), but if the addl taxable income pushes you from the old 15 to the new 22, you will not fare so well! Wish they just did an across the board tax reduction, and inexcusable they did not get rid of the AMT (as was promised).

I did the same thing when I replaced the piston on my PS-6400.
Bolted down the cylinder just to realize that there is no easy way to get the carb/carb boot on afterwards.
Off went the cylinder just to go back on only minutes later.
Tossed the formerly new base gasket in the process as I didn't wanna risk an air leak.

I went from this:

EDIT & P.S.:
Chain brake mechanism is a pain in the buttocks to assemble.

Mounted a new muffler on my PS-6400.
DSC05245.JPG

Started a muffler mod on the former PS-6400 muffler which will go on my PS-7300.
It got late, will finish tomorrow.
Lots of carbon deposits from 12 years of usage, have the halves soaking in brake cleaner.

Finished cleaning up the muffler for my Dolmar PS-7300, crimped it back together, made a couple muffler gaskets and reassembled everything on my PS-7300.

It don't seem right to run a SLR muffler gasket on a non-SLR muffler saw.
Still Dolmar/Makita is selling the SLR muffler gaskets as suitable for non-SLR muffler saws.
SLR muffler gasket atop non-SLR muffler/gasket.

Good thing my day ended well, cause it did not start well!!!

The wife's BMW needed a battery, at first I think no problem, till the parts store tells me I can not install it. A trip to the local BMW (and I get a discount, I know someone) and the battery is $250, labor over $200, so almost $500 with sales tax... for a F'in Battery!!!

So then I picked up the boys (my 2 Grandsons) from school at 2:00 and we went sleigh riding. As we got ready to leave, I pointed out my old sleigh on the ceiling of the garage. They begged me to bring it, so I did. That old Flexible Flyer has to be 60 years old, and had been on the ceiling of the garage for about 30 years.

But it out performed their plastic sled, and you could steer it (they never saw a sled you could steer other than by leaning), so my old sled was a big hit ... go figure!

Note: I planned this event cause it was the only day this week with temps over 20 degrees during the day.

Then we got home in time for me to let them run the Asian MS 660 they helped me build (sans B+C). They loved it! First time they have ever pulled the trigger on anything like that!

So all in all, I have to say, it turned into a real nice day!

Dang Mike that's crazy for a battery. Glad you had fun with the grandkids.

...
The price of having anything brand named is increasing.

WTF did they do for having charged ~250$ labor and what is the battery made of at a 250$ price tag?!
And that is with a discount that You got!

Greedy company!

I'm glad for You that the rest of the day turned out better. :)
