Snow is receding and I'm getting itchy to go out and get something done. Built these 2 oddball models and thought it time to do some actual work. Decent size white oak that had a pronounced lean to it "volunteered". Plus not much snow in this area. No, I certainly didn't drop it with the axe!
golly that’s hollow. Where’d the rotten wood go? Been cogitating on different woods and how they break down in different climates.
Camping out in the desert, ironwood sapwood erodes away and the heartwood stays like…iron…forever. Stumps out here look like they were felled with axes eons ago and the wood is incredibly hard. I used to say that all wood just turns hard in the desert but palo verde punks away pretty quick it seems.
The "plug" was pulled out by the tree. Only reached about halfway down. Saws are a Husky 560XPG and a Jonsered 2262NST, (No such thing). Had some 2260 parts and put them on a 562 bottom end.
