The filter base is bigger at the carb opening if I remember the 357 filter is double sided and has twice the area if I remember correctly although there may have been other versions. The filter and base may be half the gain.

numbers I would go for a little more blowdown than what others have said on a limber that you want some over rev
20-22 blowdown
102-103 widen some 65%
122-123 don't open up the tunnels. I would only knock the boogers off
77-78 should be pretty wide already, you can raise as others said for more time area.

you also dont need crazy compression on a limber but the little saws can take it but 170-190 should be good.

This saw would be beat by a torque saw but should be well mannered

Any changes or tips on the 346 sonce your threads that Bryant posted ? Thanks

I keep em real simple. 105/124/78 .050 out of the squish band. No lower transfer work except for a little radiusing of the entry. Use the 359 filter and base of you can. The stock carb is fine. Gut the tank vent.

There was a 346 build off I think about 4 years ago. That day changed the thinking of how 346's are ported. I don't remember if Treemonkey or Cowroy has the videos. Watch the videos!

End results, there was a lot of good running saw there, one seemed to stand out from the others. My point I'm trying to make is, the thought of trying to get the most out of porting a saw can result in less gains than sticking to the basics. There have been some great suggestion made already.

So the 199 bolts right up to the 346 intake??? And does one HAVE to run 357/9 filter mount/elbow and filter to run the 199? Or does the 346 elbow and filter work?? Just curious if people do that to help airflow or if there is some sort of fitment issue that arises when swapping to the 199 carb....
Yes, 199 bolts right in and no you don't have to use the 357 filter mount/elbow and filter to run the 199.

I have two 346s' running 199 carbs with 346intakes and filter.

I could not get a 357 filter assembly to fit in a OE 346, but it is said it will fit.

Randy, the stock carb is fine, but I can feel the difference when using the larger carb.

You need to modify the plastic carb floor a bit with a razor, because the 357 airfilter holder is a few mm more thick:

Right on Tor. I was wanting to explain that.....but your pics are perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with that Don. There is some gain to be had there. The 199s are getting tougher to find though. Has anyone tried a 191?

I was talking to Termite the other day. He said he likes the 191 on the 357, I never asked if he's used them on a 346.
