It arrived yesterday and I got to put a few cuts on this beast today :)

FIRST SAW : Stock MS440 with dual port muffler and HD2 filter running Total 16" bar with new Oregon 60DL square chain and 7 pin 3/8" sprocket on Lucas semi-synthetic 32:1 - this is my baseline saw for comparison to other saws.
Since any saw can run differently in different wood or different conditions, I use this a control subject to make comparisons possible.

SECOND SAW: MS260 Pro ported by Drf255, with HD16 carb, custom fabricated intake elbow, velocity stack and green meany filter, 16" 3003 mount Stihl pico bar with Dansco 8 pin small spline pico sprocket and 60DL Stihl pico fast chain by Squarefile. Running Lucas semi-synthetic at 32:1 tuned to 15,400RPMs wide open throttle out of the wood, held @12K in the cut, but refresh is slow on my tach so hard to be precise.

Slow-mo with frame counting shows 5.57 seconds in the cant for the MS440 and 4.2 seconds in the cant for the MS260.

OK now the little mofo260 got fast.
3.94 seconds in the cut with the same bar and chain setup but running a standard (not pico) 7 pin rim, she ran happy at 16,200
there may be some horses left in the corral that a higher tune and better rim/chain/bar combo will let loose, but those are experiments for another day :)

had to retcon this post to fix my bad math skills, dang I suck

@Definitive Dave You seem like the kind of guy we could call "Dyno Dave" I see a handle change in your future..... Nothing like a hot rod saw is there?
I do like a fast saw, no doubt!!
Luckily I know a few guys who build em :)
This is the fastest 260 I have ever seen.

Oregon small spline sprocket with brand new rims from Oregon and Dansco.
I honestly thought the pico 7 pin felt faster than the standard 7 pin while I was cutting but the slo-mo don't lie :)
When I am running a saw it is easy to say it feels strong or fast but to really quantify what is going on it is nice to go to an impartial judge.
Al has had it running about 500 RPMs faster once well warmed up and I may actually get more speed with a fast standard 3/8" chain and bar since the torque is strong on this saw.
just a bunch of fun experiments to find out what is fastest

I contacted that chain guy I think, not a guy much willing to share.
