I've been running the fool out of my MOFO 440/046 hybrid (thanks @drf256 ) with 32" Tsumura lightweight bar, mainly for bucking and noodling. I don't have a lot of experience felling large trees, but I dropped the remnants of a large red oak recently (~30" DBH) and I would have loved to been able to hold the saw with the clutch side up.

Since I use this saw for everything else, I think a full wrap handle would get in my way a lot. I was thinking about a 3/4 wrap but have never actually run a saw with one. Besides not being able to cut a stump close to the ground, are there any other disadvantages to installing a 3/4 wrap handle on my saw? I'd hate to get one only to have it be in my way any time I'm not actually felling.

What are the best options for one? I assume OEM is fairly pricey, but don't know if the aftermarket ones are any good. Anybody running a hutzl/farmertec or similar?

'Preciate it!

Shoulda tried out that MOFO 046 next door to you at Randy's gtg last fall ;)

I love my 3/4 wrap. It's an OEM one. I got a decent deal on it. It was still stupidly expensive. It's solid as a rock.

I've never run a was with an aftermarket one, but I had one of the Farmertec 3/4 wraps in my possession for a bit. It was definitely lighter than OEM by a significant amount. That concerns me.

Now, bask in the glory... :D

Why don’t you ask your neighbor for the one hanging in his connex?

@Cobby08, can you pull the part # for the 440 R?

I’ll try to look today WG.

Thanks for the info, y'all.

If I can find a good deal on a quality one, I thinks I'll give it a try

@hseII I'll holler at you later on...

I just ordered one a few days ago straight from FarmerTec(the add on this site) at $15.63 was inexpensive enough not to give it a try. As I too want to make my 044/440 a dedicated felling saw. I reasoned that I could just grab a different saw for a different job if it were in the way. Had to do something to justify another saw! LOL
I'll try and give a report once the slow boat from China arrives.

The 461 wrap will fit right on a 440... I had an OEM 461R handle on my hybrid, and from what I can tell, the AM 440 handles (at least the ones I had) are a copy of the 461 handles and not the 044/440 handles.

Screws mysteriously appeared in the mailbox today, Thanks @hseII and @Cobby08 .

I ran the saw this weekend with the wrap bar and a couple screws borrowed from my 036. I really like it! Dropped another dead red oak and it was handy being able to have options on how to hold the saw.

Thanks to @hseII , I now have an OEM Stihl wrap bar in hand. :campeon:
What an awesome neighborly type feller he is. Once I get the longer side screws, I'll be in bidness.
'Preciate it sir!

You got the part #’s to them long screws? I got a OEM wrap from @Roadfxr the other day for the 044 I picked up from him.

I don't know the numbers, maybe @Cobby08 will chime in...

I reused the 2 screws on the bottom of the saw, so I think you will only need the 2 longer ones for the side.

I think the 3/4 wrap improved 72thing s aim. The red oak dropped about as close to planned as you can get.
