Was quoted $1,180 with a 25" light bar. Dealers aroud here are sticking to MSRP it seems.

If they won't move on price, ask them to throw in some stuff like extra chain, etc. May or may not work. The dealers are tough around here also, which is why I'm glad some members are dealers.

I cant get a deal on a stihl to save my life and I've been buying saws from the same couple places since I was 17.

Me neither Domenick. Like they are all in cahoots. DSRP only here.

All the small, ma & pa dealers around here stick to MSRP.

But a few of the big dealers in Denver will wheel & deal with you, most times they will knock $100 - $125 off the bigger pro saws without any asking, twist their arm a bit... or show them you have cash, they will knock $150 off the top of the big saws.

I'm not in the market for a 462 thou....

From what I understand the dealers profit margin is quite small, i wanna say around $100-$150. I think Scott posted his cost vs. MSRP a ways back in this thread and I was shocked at how little the dealer actually makes on a saw. My memory is shot though so I could be way off.

I think that hanging a long bar like that defeats the purpose of this saw. For giggles I put the lightest 32” bar on it (without the chain even) and it just felt awkward. I’m not planning on going longer than 25” personally. View attachment 170789

That’s a waste of a 70cc saw to me. I don’t like anything under 28” on a 70cc.

The 462 balances perfectly with a 20" light bar, is insanely light for a 70 cc saw (power head 13+1/4 lbs, bar under 2 lb 1 oz), the throttle response is instant and the power is VG with a slight muffler mod.

I don't think you would be able to find a better all around saw. The light weight and throttle response make it insanely good for limbing, and it has more than enough power to handle a 20" bar. I'm sure it would handle a 24 or 28" bar just fine if you are planning on felling or larger bucking, but IMO the weight of the powerhead made it a perfect match for the 20" light bar. No regrets choosing that for this saw, it is the bar length I use most anyway.

Bar Data: 20" Light = 2 lb 0.9 oz; 20" ES = 2 lb 13.5 oz.

Having an extra 3/4 of a pound hanging out from a powerhead this light can not be helpful.

20" E bar = 2 lb 4.6 oz; 20" Sugi = 2 lb 3.1 oz.

That is indeed a great price, only 140 more than what I can get a 572 for.

What a great deal, you get 1.5 extra pounds for free!

In reality, I think they are both great saws, and I would think the 572 will be preferred with longer bars (28 +), and the 462 with shorter bars (20 + 24).

Most of the Tree Pros around here mostly run 20" bars.
