It is time to swap the spur drum to a rim sprocket setup on our 241. I prefer to have the part numbers when I go to my closest dealer due to them being iffy on parts purchasing. I found one on a UK site, but I am not 100% sure that is the correct number.

I have 1143-007-1002 for the 3/8 picco setup.

Thanks

Actually Looking myself an IPL for the 241. It came with a 3/8P spur sprocket and want to convert it to a .325 rim.

I have 1143-007-1002 for the 3/8 picco setup.

This 1143 007 1002 3/8 rim sprocked kit contains the clutch drum and the 3/8 picco rim sprocked part no. 0000 642 1240.

Be careful, if you have a 16" bar it is possible that you need for the 3/8 picco rim sprocket a chain with 56 drive links instead of the standart 55. I had this problem on my MS 241.

I figured that may be the case. I wish the closest dealer had some sense! One guy does, but the one that orders parts want to argue with you if you ask for something by part number. For instance, I needed a few more 3/8-7pin rim sprockets for the small spline (261). He looked it up and it had it in the IPL, but not on the parts list. He argued they weren't available. I called BS and told him to look it up for a 260. He said we have plenty of those but they won't work with your saw. Long story short, the saw mechanic got them down and told me to have a nice day. The one I have problems with is the type that if he can't find it on the computer, he says he can't get it.

I went through this on purchasing the lightweight bars. Luckily this site had the pry numbers and that is how I ordered it through them. He gives me decent prices, but is a pain to deal with.

Depends on the bar for 56 drivers.

It is the 16" that came on it. I have both on hand I believe.

Has anyone made a list of part numbers for Stihl rim sprockets available? If one of our members that are Stihl dealers could do that, it would save some headache.

Don't ask me. It is at a farmer's CoOp. He is the one that tuned my 395 so fat, it wasn't turning but 9,500. I took it back to the other guy, and he just shook his head. He does decent on mowers and fence chargers, but I don't take any saws to him to work on. That is also why I go in with part numbers. He called me back to tell me that actually had the kit in stock after he told me he needed to order it. That would have been nice to know 2 hours ago.

Seems like there is plenty of adjustment with the six spur... Check it out on your saw. Once the rims get big, there is less margin. P7 rim isn't huge...

So I picked up the 1143-007-1002, 7 tooth rim kit to swap for the stock 6 tooth spur. B&C are .50/ 3/8 picco × 55dl(bar#3005 000 4813). After install of new sprocket bar/chain extremely difficult to mount also after startup saw would bog on ititial throttle then seem to get right. Couldn't get over how difficult it was to mount bar and chain so put original 6/drum back on. Do I need to buy new "16 b/c to accommodate the 7 tooth rim? New at the site and also the game so any "detailed" info greatly appreciated. Thnx

I had to go to 56 DL chains on mine. I say you are way too tight. My dealer stocks 55 and 56 dL, 3/8p chains now.

On a rim or a spur ?

If you got a 55 driver chain to fit on a stihl bar with the Rim kit you got a unicorn.
Jogged my memory... I had rigged an oregon rim setup and tried 1/4. Didn’t like it. Couldn’t find pico rim for Oregon spline, so went back to spur. Sorry for confusion...

I found some large like 460 660 type 8pin rims to try picco on. They have very wide drive segments.

My next picco update is the 18" bar but who knows what will fit that bar for driver count. It has 61dl stamped on it. Assuming that is for a spur. No nothing is listed but the actual bar from looking around. Not many of these 3005 still made in 18" or 20"

Thank you friend! Much appreciated. And yes setup was way to tight. I'll be stopping by my local dealer very soon to check out chains. Love this site and the knowledge I've gained since I've been following...✌
