I have been studying these Max-Flo Filters and am curious if anyone modified or does anything to the plastics that come with the filter setup?
Seeing that the covers are pretty cheap, I was thinking about drilling some holes in the sides of the rear cover to help get more air quicker.
I was also thinking about drilling some holes in the flat plastic plates so you could gain a bit more air flo from the top of the filter, seeing that it appears to be un-utilized.
Any thoughts? Anyone already do anything to their covers?

might check out FrogSkinz, some guys here were using them..... I think this fits with what you're trying to do if I understand you correctly.

I have checked the frog skinz out. Not sure if I would need them with the foam filter.

I do like to run the saw without the cover and just the flat top cap, but was just looking for something different. I like the added protection of the cover. Just looks like the cover makes the filter lose a bit of air flo.

I’d make the holes on the sides, fastest path to filter.

I added some holes on the 046 kit I had. I sent it to Dan up there to try and run on the dyno. You do still need the foam to stay dry if it's rainy out. It won't absorb much water but it could after a while in it.

Cool. Thanks Mike.
Did you drill holes in the sides of the cover?

So many guys on here cut with open foam filters. I figured using a modified air filter cover would be just a bit better than using it covered???

Me thinks it would be easy to do a simple test.

- 2-3 cuts with filter cover ON
- 2-3 cuts with filter cover OFF

How much faster is it might determine if holes are needed. Or maybe it's the same speed. IIRC Joe said the max flow filters let a lot more air in then a typical hd hd2 filter.

I just did holes on the bottom of mine. Let's more air in, lets chips fall out easier, doesn't let water in.

When I get a chance, I will do this test for the good of the order and report back. I like the holes on the underside! [emoji106]
