Milling questions from a newbie

Is the band mill kerf really a 1/16, or is it 1/8" because of the opposing offset tooth tips?

The blades I run are thin kerf .035" & .040" and yes it measures 1/16" kerf in the wood. When I make my next set, I add 1/16" to the desired board thickness, seems to work out good. There are a whole bunch of different ones out there, I would think the kerf would vary depending on the particular blade used.
