The more I run small light 14” bar saws with snort (muff modded dolmar 421) the more I want to only run small light saws with snort.

I reckon that the shipping would be ridicously high. A lot of folks are buying atleast 2 of em, so i doubt that there's any left :D

The cheapest I’ve seen the makita reed valve 3601 in the US was $260 plus shipping this Fall.

I heard from a reliable source, that the saw will go through some changes, they'll be adding a new carb and a cat muffler to comply with emission standards.

Has the 3601 been updated to the cat muffler yet?

Can't say for sure. The 3601 I just bought had a dom of 10.18 and has the standard cage with holes in it and nothing else. It's a crimped muffler that looks like it would be easy to split like a 7910 muffler. The deflector is spot welded on.

However, the larger issue is lack of availability of the micro DD carb tool. I've looked all over at the hipa and acv carb sets and nothing. So unless your super tight with a makita dealer (I'm tight with mine and he was too skeereded to sell me one) your sol for adjusting these carbs without cutting a slot in the screw heads.

It's a nice little saw but it's your choice wheather it's worth the carb adjustment snafu. These smaller saws are prime Homeowner-Harry territory and the epa has the carb stuff locked right down.

It does, I have it but it still doesn't fit, either too big or too small, need one just right. ;)
I could be wrong. It wasn’t the Makita I tried it on, it was one of the micro DD on the echo blower that it fit. Muh bad
