Can anyone tell me where I can find a new lamp (bulb) for this Stihl inspection light/magnifier?

It is a great tool for check carburetors, etc. and my lamp finally burned out. I got this one from Eddie Anderson when I had a chance to visit his place several years ago.

Thanks!

I'm being told you can't buy the bulb.

Don't believe everything you are told. With just a bit of prodding and searching I came up with a 10 pack of replacement bulbs for $9.99 delivered.

The old...

New ones on the way

The Stihl tool requires the bulb with the small glass end to fit inside the device.

Randy - the magnifier end is attached pretty well. I thought about trying to slip it over another small flashlight but I didn't want to break it in the process. I think I will be set for a while now.

Looks just like the otoscope the wife bought for the kids ears. I believe she got it on eBay or Amazon.

Exactly what I was going to say. $10 and up on Amazon or eBay. You don't need a medical grade one for chainsaw use. If you have a label maker, yours can say 'STIHL' too!

My favorite story with these concerned my iPhone. When it would no longer charge, I took it into the Apple store, expecting to shell out big bucks for a new battery. The store greeter (not even one of the 'Geniuses') pulled an otoscope from his pocket and diagnosed pocket lint in the charging port that would not come out with compressed air. A little magic with a probe, and voilà!

Philbert's right. On ebay, look under Diagnostic Penlight Otoscope Pen style Light for Ear Nose Throat Clinical. Less than $4 and free shipping.

BTW, do these things work better than the free LED flashlights I get at HF for buying about anything else? Just curious.

Kind of curious myself what you use this to look at? I'm guessing if your saws is running a fever it would be handy...... :zplayita:

That's funny, I must admit. Several times I use the small LED flashlight when working on saw engines and when sharpening chain. My eyes aren't as young as they use to be. Occasionally I will pull out a 4" magnifying glass, but so far, that's not often.

I thought perhaps it might be a product of the Stylus Streamlight company but they use LED's and zenon bulbs . I have a stream light that uses 3 AAAA batteries which will fit right inside of a sparkplug hole .LED .About 17 dollars more or less .

Here's a tip on those small LED flashlights. After awhile, one of mine started flickering and eventually even a rap on the side failed to light it, even though the batteries were still good. I was ready to throw it away and instead I pressed on the front lens with my index finger.

It immediately started working again. Gasp! That front lens is more than just a lens. If it gets even a little loose or shifts forward, it loses contact with the circuit and all the LEDs go out.
