I have a Jonsered 2055 I am putting together so you put a sealant on the bearing cup like you would with the 2150?

That's correct. They just recommend silicone, and they show the Dow-Corning 3140 in the pic. I'd likely use the same Three Bond 1184 I use on everything.

EDIT: They also recommend doing it all at once. WM says to mount the cylinder and piston before the silicone has solidified, and then tighten it all up.

I assumed so.

I have a couple of the 520SP and really like the weight and power of them. Based on recommendations from the Europe guys I've just run 8t drive and .325 chain and like that setup. I've kept eyes open for a 510SP in local area, but have not ran into one. Always thought that rear handle was odd, but just wanted to try one as same engine as the 520 and 525 and see what the handle felt like in use. Good luck with your new saw addition.

I need to get back to repairs on my 2051. Darn good saw, just prior owner did the classic with that chassis with wearing a hole in oil tank and tank seam is leaking oil. Time to try stopping it up with something again and trying to decide what to try next.

I have a case that looks good if you need it.

I may get up with you on that. Over time the permatex 2 part metal weld wore out. Next tried seal-all with a layer of the white porous tape over seam and bb size hole in tank. That worked well and for longer, but still gave way. I think vibrations got into it & it gave way over time. Not sure if you, Spike, or someone have another suggestion? I was thinking about trying the Red-Cote like Mac guys use sealing up inside of 10 series fuel tanks. I think that could seal up the seam, but not fix the small hole in tank.

Is there enough material to drill and plug tap.

Hole is in bottom of tank & metal is very thin there. No tapping to do. Saw runs great, but may decide to move on to a different good case. I’ll look it over tonight. You may get a message from me if go the different case route.

Well, I brought home a 2163. Plan for it?

Ported 52mm 372xp cylinder, with pop up piston.

Or should I leave it alone?

I have read these 362/2163's turn about 1000-1500 rpm higher than a 365/2165. So about 14,500 to 15,000. 47mm bore.

But a properly ported big bore can turn that high too, right? And it would also have more grunt when dogged in, right?

New member here been on AS for a long time figured I should stop lurking and join up here too. Thought I’d share a few pics of my Jonsereds. CS2245, 2065 and a 670WC. The 670 is actually a Cutters Edge fire service saw that picked up for a steal. It’s a cream puff. Lots of good info on OPE.

I’d like to play with a ported/modified 362/2163. I bet it’d scream like a 346xp but with 62cc’s. The stock 362/2163 jug would likely run better than an aftermarket 50mm jug.

I happen to have a couple of the 2063/2163 cylinders, the ports actually look very good to me. I think they could make great power, oddly one is a Mahle ask the other is a Gillodoni or however you spell it.

I'm going to have to figure out to decide between the stock 47mm kit, or a ported 52mm kit.

Or maybe a ported 47mm kit? I will have to ask the builders here if they have ever done one.

I think there has to be some potential with the 47mm kit, if I could, I would test both kits but I only have one 2163. Maybe someone has a 362 with a bad top end that I can use to test the ported 52mm kit on.

My 2065 is going to need a rebuild at some point and I was thinking of an aftermarket BB 52mm kit. However 2065 has a nice Mahle closed port 48mm jug on it like the Husky 365 special. It runs good as is so I’m leaning more towards using a pop up piston and mild porting on that saw when the time comes. Here’s a pic of the closed port 48mm. This saw works for a living so it’s a bit dirty.

The 2163 is pretty rare and I think they might have more collector value if left relatively stock. New they were close in price to the 2171.

I still want a BB 372 /2172 at some point but might start with a different saw for the build.

Now that you mention the likelihood of collector value, I think I will just stick with a muffler mod and retune.

Should run a little better since it would breathe better. Would be able to switch back to the factory muffler and tune if needed.

I would imagine these are rare, I've only seen one go up for sale and that was on this site's classifieds, and it was a while ago. Have yet to see one on feepay.
