We focus so much on porting saws for more power but the clutch is very important... it puts the power to the wood! People upgrade there transmission/clutch in a car when they soup it up... we should do the same for the saw clutch if it needs it.

Slippery slope because then that puts more stress on the crank the power has to go somewhere

The 660 spring has 5 coils instead of 4 on the 661 too I see from the picture. Probably stronger because of heavier shoes?
Yes the 661 has stiffer springs as well they hold the light 661 shoes off the drum to much at lower revs in a hardcut under load working hard.
The 661 is all about revs drop under that with a big load and it shows one of it's weakness that's in my particular cutting circumstance.

The only real fly in the ointment I noticed with the 064 is the av isn’t the smoothest. Not quite as smooth as even a 460 for that matter. I do recognize they have to make the av stiff enough to handle longer bars and the heavier chassis. Also have to consider the saw came out in the 80’s... it’s no rougher than a 2100 or 288 of the same time period, which also had rubber mounts in there setup. It is what it is.

I don't mind the av on them for the simple fact that the 064 066 and ms660 share the same buffers makes it easier to get a replacement quick.lol
