whats the best approach to removing the limiter tabs on the carb? and one other question, if i wanted to put a metal clamp on the intake, do i have to take the cylinder off to do it?
I use a pair of wire nippers then smooth with a razor blade. And I do remove the intake and trim off the plastic that's over the boot, then put a 372 clamp right on the rubber.

I've a 'no oil to the bar mount' on a 335xpt. How do you get to the pump?

Whole she-bang have to come out of the case?[emoji37]

Anyone know if there is another piston that will fit a 257? [without having to make modifications].

Thanks. I saw most of those already. I was hoping for a Meteor brand, as they are the only AM manufacturer that I have used, but alas, they don't stock a 257 piston.
Have you used anything from Lil' Red Barn, or the Hyway brand?
I have. My boy ran a lil red barn windowed piston in his closed port 55 for a year before he sold it. I'd not hesitate to recommend them. But I too prefer Meteor (no one else offers a piston for that application).

I would respectfully steer you toward the Hyway brand. The other is re-branded white box products and are hit and miss, and when they miss, they're off the chart. IMHO

Uncle Carl,
Here is a link to a workshop manual. Page 43 is where the oil pump section begins.

Wonderful. [emoji21]
To get to the actual oil pump you basically disassemble the whole freakin' powerhead, including cylinder and crank assembly.

Rethinking the problem I've decided that what I've got is an air lock in the 'curley' pickup hose maybe.

Find a way to 'burp' air from the feed port.
