I clean both surfaces with acetone and use Yamabond. No failures yet.

518 is kinda meh to me. Sure, the excess squeezed out does not harden inside the motor which is nice. But it’s a pain to clean up on tear downs and it does not work well on plastic to metal surfaces like the 350’s as mentioned. You also have to wait for it to set up overnight. Does it work? Sure. But there are other choices imho.

Depends on what I'm sealing up. Bigger area like a 3.6 front cover, yes. Smaller stuff like 2.4 oil pans, we use the small tubes..
If GM calls for one or the other, thats what we have to use under warranty or they will bounce the claim.:rolleyes:
