What do you guys use for case sealant between the metal cylinder and the plastic case? I ordered the 503267201 silicone from my dealer and its a year expired! They called husqvarna and husky sent another tube from a different warehouse and its 18 months expired! Aparently husky is going though all their stock and will send me a fresh tube if they find one.

Hey a kinda oil thread.
Motoseal rules

I used motoseal and it failed me on the 350. Works well on the metal to metal clamshells real good though!

I have used motoseal on a couple mag cases and it's still holding up, never tried it on plastic though.

I have a ported one (well the Jony equivalent 2150) with Motoseal. Been completely fine for a while now. Both surfaces meticulously clean before application.

The one 350 I played with I could never get to seal right with Motoseal. By no means am I throwing Motoseal under the bus. In fact the 350 was banished to milk crate for a later time, but i have robbed parts for other saws

@Mattyo It seems this is a difficult bond to make and 518 is not suitable according to some trial and error.

My opinion

1. I think it is absolutely worth putting back together with a 346 top end.

2. Yamabond is working well on mine.

518 didn't work for me over time. It does not bond metal to plastic well.

3bond 1184 is the stuff I use now for that. :)

yamabond 4, sand bearing cup on sheet of glass to make sure flat, then i like to sand and scuff up both surfaces to give the sealant something to bite on to then make sure both surfaces are meticulously clean, in fact i don't oil cylinder or anything till after assembled that way i'm sure there is no chance of accidental oil contact. then make sure to give sealant the proper time to cure. Also don't go over board on amount of sealant used just a thin layer on both surfaces give couple minutes to skin over like directions say and assemble with lock tight on bolts.

Just recently used Motoseal on a stock 340, Seems fine after a 2 hrs outing.

I haven't heard of many failures mentioned using that on the 340/345/350's and those few that failed could very well be because of other factors.

Personally I prefer Hondabond HT but Dirko HT works good as well.

In the time I spent working @ the motorcycle shop, I've come to the conclusion that the Motoseal/Honda/YamaBonds are probably made in the same darn factory. They all look, feel and perform identically. I use a piece of thin plastic on the tube and turn the cap on.
