Had trouble starting 55 yesterday. Think I found a clue. LOL
Never replaced a pawl. Use a big C clamp and press pin in?
Pricing: buying a pawl, pin and spring can be more than a good used complete flywheel.

Yeah maybe. They drive in. You might could use a little bit of lock tight just so they stay in there. I’d do both while I was there. Cheap fix. Do springs too.
I wouldn’t get a whole new flywheel

I probably have a flywheel... I hate changing the pawls that press in.

I too sometimes have trouble out of my 55 pawls. Mine either get dry, or gummed up and sometimes wont return to catch the starter. What is the best lubricant for this part? I've tried quite a few lubricants.

Try Lock-eaze, it’s powdered graphite in a solvent that evaporates(I think it’s just alcohol) the liquid lets it penetrate before it dries and leaves the graphite behind, but won’t be “oily” and attract dirt.

I have one here for a 50, but I think I scrapped all the ones like yours... Sorry.

Someone here has to have one.... Try the swap meet thread.

Looks like you can use one from a 51 also...
