I really like my PPT-280. For all the reasons you don't like the Stihler, & I'm a Stihl Head.
Yep, really like my ppt2620 (replaced 266). Only 1/2 gal of fuel through it but its a great runner. Never was a fan of the HT we used at work.

New one carb and coil. No pressure or vac leaks. Leak down test well under 10%. New spark plug. Tested fuel. Valve clearance at 0.100mm.

Crazy question- do you know the Pole isn't bent, & the chain is free?

Poles not bent and turns freely. Currently have no bar on it. Also replaced line from tank grommet to filter. No change

No heat shield on carb side. Gasket good

I sure hope I get to laugh about this and it's something simple soon.

I removed valves and springs no issues found with ether.

I bought one just like that. Drove me crazy three days or so. I kept putting down before I smashed it to bits. Clogged impulse. Runs like a champ. Had some nasty black death in the hole. Spray it out with 2+2 and high pressure air. And don't wreck *s-word be gentle.

Good Luck @Struggle

When you try to rev it, if you could squirt some fuel into the carb at the same time it would indicate if it's a fuel or electrical issue.

Is the choke fully open/closed when called upon. Will it accelerate when choke is closed ?
I had a saw do the same thing. Throttle plate was being impeded by backing plate.

OEM carb and coil from Stihl. I have it completely apart again down to crank removed. No blockage of impulse. It just makes zero sense to me. I put a timing light on it and it rev enough to move the mark until it quit so advance appears to be working.

It will bench idle until you shut it off or rev it.

Just a thought...in the trigger housing ...as you pull on the trigger are you getting a short on the kill wire . That has been a constant thing you have had there with all the other changes you made swapping out components .
