I haven't touched the rakers yet.
Don't. You'll realize that as that cutter gets dull, and you square it up better, it'll get more aggressive. .020" rakers with a square chain is a beautiful thing. .030 with square in hardwood sucks.

I'll be cutting hardwood mostly so appreciate the heads up. This square filing thing is not an easy task.
Converting from round to square takes time. I've only been doing it for a year and a half, and it gets easier every time. You'll be able to touch up a 20" chain in 10 minutes if you keep at it. And a chain vise will speed you up and increase accuracy

They get a little warm..
Especially when the chains are this nasty.
It's all fun and games til someone gets their eye poked out.

I even put a little beak on there for real life action..

Looks good...Is that with the salmon colored wheel that comes on grinder?
Yep. I'll get all the good I can out of it.

Can you slosh them around in a metal can with some kind of solvent?
I've tried air, brake cleaner, carb cleaner. without good enough results to bother with.
So I just grind em dirty. Then re- dress or spray the wheel off when it stops grinding and starts rubbin'..

You'd think those would take oil off. I bet it's burned wood residue. The brown stuff you notice about 10 minutes after your oiler hole gets plugged.
