Loaded the z turn on the trailer and had a low tire so I aired it up.
Made it about 2 miles down the road when the thing blew. No spare with me so I was going to unhook the trailer and run home for my spare and jack. Guy in a rat rod stopped and said don't do that I will run you home and you can get the spare. Then we can stop at my house and get my work van and we can change the tire.

Had a big problem getting the jack from under the truck seat while i was working on that he ran back to his house and got a small floor jack.
Returned just as I got the trucks jack loose. the truck is only a 2016 so that screw that held the jack in place should not have been that bad.

Now to see if I can find a resonable replacement tire.

The Dodge 1500 truck jack is under the right front seat. It is held in place by a thumb screw about 2 inches long and probably a metric size clost to 1/4 NFT.

Now if I would have had a flat on the truck I would have sat there for some time as the wife was out working in her flower beds and we are not a family that has our cell phones in our hand every minute.
Also she couldn't hear the home phone out there.
Ya I could have called road service for that stinking screw.

Just see if you can remove your jack.

I would bet that somewhere in the neighborhood of 70% of the spare tire hoists used on GM trucks riding around Wi. are seized and wont lower the spare.
I dont recall the year, but they added a hook mechanism that folds in as it lowers. That hook is intended to keep the spare from hitting the road should the cable break.
The spring and slots it rides in simply rust and it wont retract.

Those things are a pain to get down. Used to hate to see one come in for that problem, even for us guys down south where salt on the road isn't needed and not near the ocean. Just a bad design over all.

My car didnt come with a spare or a jack new! Just a "tire mobility kit" AKA a can of fix a flat! Jacks and spare tires are over rated anyway, evey car that comes into my shop with a flat was either driven on the rim or towed in! Very few of us left that know how to change a tire anymore. :(

The orginal that blew the side wall. Salted roads are hard on snowmobile trailer rims.

Yeah but it ain't a hemi:(

Funny thing is it was cheaper than all the trucks I was looking at, at the time with similar mileage.

At least they don't shut off every time you stop for a light or stop sign.
What you get an extra mile from a gallon?
