image.jpg Well guys, I started mending on this little saw and got it looking good enough to show off. Doesn’t run well, hit & miss, spits, pops. There is some corrosion in the air filter body just ahead of the carb. I suspect the carb is in need of some love. Here are some nice pics. 861B60B5-6D9F-4328-BC88-253589F56024.jpegEBBC88D4-29B5-487E-8C46-A5B38E5D30C3.jpeg6E0A7E46-E15A-465A-96AC-7BDAE0476843.jpegD97441F5-5526-4E0B-B9D7-C0053086BABD.jpeg

Beautiful west German quality saw. So sad Solo (who had a huge catalogue of OPE) had to close & sell.

That 611 has spent most of it's 40+ years on a shelf, it hurts to think it was almost wrecked by thoughtless packing. You have done a great job getting it back in shape. That rear handle can be tricky with all the pins and springs, you'll be doing that again when you rebuild and clean the carb. Glad the deal went through, you will enjoy it when you get it right.

There was one of these on my local FB marketplace. It was listed for a long time but I can’t find it anymore. Was in the St. Louis area, IIRC.

Here she is boys, one carb kit and my inner gorilla to get the metal bent back. It’s not perfectly straight but for now it’ll do.

Just a stihl, no big deal lol.
It was pretty funny, I think that one snowfall was more than we got all this winter so far.
This was a nice one, one of many .

Maybe drain the oil, and put the saw in a back if you're gonna use the dreaded packaging peanuts.

Exactly what I thought, spent quite a bit of time cleaning it out. I'm not the cleanest person, but I do what I can to avoid making a mess.
Not sure I still have pictures, but one of the best was an 372 xpw with a standard handle I received. It was in a box that was 20" cubed(way to big), the saw was wrapped in one bathroom towel and the bar and chain set in on top of it, still had some fluids in it. Surprisingly it made it here with no damage, but it looked as if the bar had escaped at least once and the box was taped back up afterwards.
So what do you do when that happens, communicate with the seller that it wasn't packaged properly so they can learn right. Couple months later he contacted me wondering if I had interest in another saw, I said sure if it's packaged better, that one was in the same size box and it was a 50cc saw, wrapped in a towel again and had a kitchen towel with a Christmas design on it , we still use the Christmas towel :D.
