Gasket options

Just wanted to share some info with you guys about base gasket options.
I as the rest of you like to get the squish as close to .020 as possible. In the past if I can I have done base delete with a sealer, well recently I have pulled a couple cylinders that I have base deleted and the sealant wasn't stuck to the case or the cylinder. Well I didn't like that! So off Napa I went and I came home with a roll of gasket material that measures .0105! Which in most cases drops your cylinder .010-.020. it's easy to make your own, plus you can make a lot of base gaskets out of a roll. Just thought I'd share and maybe it's an option on your next build.

Here's the face, it just an ordinary paper gasket just thin! This might work great on head slappers like a 262 or most dolmars.

I've pissed the wife off before when the thickness I needed was a match to a page in the calendar.
I'd like to add a tip for when using paper gaskets...I wet them down with loctite so they're completely saturated. I believe that helps prevent the paper from burning out over time.

I did this on my 6100 today squish came in at .022 can't wait to try it out! Only gained .005-.006 over factory base but I had it apart so it got the treatment.
