I had a early 90s Toyota truck that I had to take the fender panel off to get to the filter. Ironically my 06 is on top of the engine and even has a catch pan so you don’t get oil on the motor. They also changed the brake design to make it much easier to change the pads. However I believe they are the exception not the norm.
