So is the exhaut port at a more user friendly place so you do not have to cut and weld a muffler 9 was from Sunday?

If I whittle it down right, should be a bolt on affair, exhaust and intake boot.

Just a home made big bore kit once it's all said and done.

Amazing castings! Who did this casting for you?
A fella I found on a metal casting forum.

Was looking into casting them myself realized I wasn't going to have time, so I farmed them out.

He uses lost foam technique.

He made something really similar to see if it could be done. Asked if he wanted to attempt a useable piece.

Looks like he did a great job. But every time
I see the castings they remind me of Squidward's house.

Lol, it does somewhat....

Hoping to have some time next week when I get home to true the base, add the holes, rough the bore and add the plug hole

I'll set it for 52mm, lay out/rough in the ports at the correct height. Final bore to press in the sleeve.

Have to see if I have room for transfer covers, make it a lot nicer to shape the transfer ports. Not sure how much real estate I have for hold down bolts.

Have you considered using a coating other than chrome or nikasil? Maybe hard coat or ceramics? Avoids all the sleeve work.

Interesting question. Have seen a Dutch company that ceramic coated 2 stroke pistons. They clame that with their coating a 2 stroke piston can run on a 200:1 fuel mix with a long run time.

But at what cost? The sleeve is work I can do myself, so it is just a time investment. Plus 30$ for the sleeve material.

I have looked a little into alternative options but never priced anything out.

In the 300$ range I can send it to be bored and plated ready to run. Kind of hard to stray from the tried and true...

I'm not opposed to trying new things.

In what kind of bore?

Just roughing it in.

Bore at 52mm base perpidicular to the bore.

Looks like it has some core shift. But should be ok.

Still have to get it bolted down to the case, see if the height needs to be trimmed.

And how much needs to come out of the band.
