Clutch spring revival

Has anyone tried to put the spring back into an over heated clutch spring??

Take stretched spring, heat closed on pliers to yellow color, the quench in water???

Re heat tangs so not brittle??

Can see how they are stretched, going to try the heat treatment tomorrow.

Never tried it...but I did go through most of my saws this winter and put on new oem springs. Some had AM clutches which are known to have low quality springs.

They're often an overlooked item on rebuilds; guys have essentially zero-hour engines (p/c, bearings) but run stretched out springs and worn clutches lol.
