Well, the original thought coming into this project was "quick and easy", but really! When is it ever? Lol
It turns out this nice looking machine has a very wobbly crank and will be coming apart at the seams for a new set of bearings.

This build comes with a twist...plans are in the works to get a full powder coat.

Right now as it sits, I'm gonna need to track down some not so easy to find parts. The foot pad is pretty beat, the clutch is shot, the handlebar would be better on a saw that doesn't look very nice, the plastic button is missing on the manual oil pump, the oil hose in the tank is gummy, and the bucking spike has a bad crack.
It's going to need a set of av rubber too.

The clutch can get by with a spring replacement. 20180415_212725.jpg

Cheap chainsaw parts out of Washington has a pretty good stash of parts for the Pioneer saws. They can be found on ebay. Sometimes it's best to call though.

You could also try Rottman sales. They have a good amount of nos stuff, but it's not very cheap at all. The foot pad might be the hardest part to find. National oil seals part number 472705 works great on these saws, and the bearings are standard 6202c3.

Bryce (cheapchainsawparts) has re-pop dawgs that are pretty nice. He also had new full-wrap handles but it looks like he's out.

I may have some parts but they're buried away so no promises. I bought out the entire inventory of Smith River Saw's Pioneer and Partner inventory in 2001.

As mentioned already the bearings and seals are standard, so no worries there. It would be good to check the oil pump as the worm gear in those is commonly worn down in well used saws.

If you need AV bushings, there's this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-P61-P62-Lower-Handle-Mount-With-4-Av-Bushings-Chainsaw-A/122796065862?hash=item1c97374446:g:fj4AAOSw-olaAVCS

Thanks guys, for all the info! This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a few years... ever since I saw @Mastermind ’s P50 build over on AS...

    https://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/restoring-a-pioneer-p50.205588/

@Glock37 is going to powder the parts for us. He has done several sets of cases, recoils, clutch covers, and mufflers for me in the past, and his work is always excellent!

These are some of the pics from Randy’s saw that really inspired this build...

I’ll dig through my stash to see what I have for parts. I’m pretty sure I have some nos clutch springs...not sure if they will be the right ones though. Don’t remember if I have a decent footpad or not

I doubt mine will ever get started. It's a fine shelf queen......and I've got plenty of saws I can use.

So do I! This won’t be an everyday saw, just a once in a while for fun saw...
