I looked at this a few years ago when i had both 2100 and 288 apart on the bench.

Iirc the only clearance needed would be for the big end of the rod.

The counter weight is a bit bigger on the 2100 so the whole case ID needs to be increased by around 0.1"

I'm a mechanical engineer and I do software programming. I was an automotive machinist before college. These are my personal machines setup at a friends race shop.

Where are you in Belgium? I lived in Leuven for a few months about 10 years ago.

I was thinking of milling off the weights.

I originally thought of the same thing. I was going to skinny up the weights to be the same size as the 395 and even reduce some of the counterweight near the center of the throw to match the 395 weights. But the big rod end is only 0.010-0.020" less than the counterweight and the case part line is centered over it, so you still end up taking about the same amount off the gasket surface.

Really, it spools up plenty quick. The extra inertia probably helps keep the RPM more stable in the cut.

Is the carb massaged? What one is on it?
I'm still screwing with this 105 stihl.
Yours sounds crispy! :)

I think it's the Walbro WJ115, it has the throttle shafts skinned and the venturi massaged a little. I dislike it because it's hard to get a screwdriver in the EPA adjusting screws even after modifying them.

Do you think that 070 090 knock off carb would feed these saws and maintain user friendly manners? I want to mill with mine so it needs to be just start/run and WOT.

For whatever reason...I find the earlier tillotson runs real good on these and the 385/390. Nothing wrong with the walbro, I just think the tilly just runs well.

I agree, I want the HS-300A but can't find one and I'm not paying $100 for a new one.
