Safely dropped this chestnut oak today before the rain. It died over the last year and was right next to our lane. It was time to take matters into my own hands rather than wait for Mother Nature to drop it at the most inconvenient time. 29" at the stump and 26.5" DBH. It will make great lumber and firewood.

Good sized tree there. Good call on dropping it before the wind decided to do it for ya!

Nice tree and very jealous you were out in the woods cutting with a awesome masterminded saw. I was at work changing turbos and installing new dual exhaust on a long nosed Pete. Would much rather be cutting.

Nice. Did ya get the thump on video?
Nope. No one was available to video. Also, there wasn't a big thump because I wanted to protect the asphalt so I put a log at the stump end and the crown protected the top end so the main trunk never reached the ground.32294416_10216213623477347_4102723232686145536_n.jpg

That is one straight log. You may want to check on the value of veneer quality chestnut oak before you cut it up....if it is not too late. The hinge may get it DQ'd for veneer.
